Baptism Preparation
There are two Baptismal Preparation Teams, one Creole and
one English. Both teams help
prepare parents, godparents and families for the celebration of the Sacrament
of Baptism. The preparation
gives the family and godparents an opportunity to reflect on their faith and
the sacrament of
Baptism. The teams also
assist the families during the Baptism with support and prayerful
participation. You are invited to
share your faith with our young families and welcome their children into our
faith.
To join, call the rectory at (718) 528-0577 and leave your name for Deacon Paul Dorsinville for the Creole team or Deacon Francois Cajoux for the
English team.
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
In bringing adults into the Catholic community, the RCIA takes the distinctive history and spiritual needs of each person into account, differentiating between the baptized and the unbaptized, the catechized and the uncatechized. The needs of mature, practicing Christians from other faith traditions are considered on an individual basis. Members of the Sacred Heart team share some of the joy that Jesus’ disciples must have felt as new converts were brought to Catholicism. Members of the RCIA Team are blessed and approved for service by the Pastor.
For information contact Deacons Paul Dorsinville
or Francois Cajoux at the Rectory, (718) 528-0577.
Pre-Cana
The Church provides help for couples planning to marry. At Sacred Heart, married couples meet and share their experiences with couples preparing to marry. The purpose is to make the couples planning marriage aware of the pitfalls to successful marriages and the strategies that are conducive to lifelong, loving relationships. Members of the Pre-Cana team must be married couples, living within the precepts of the Catholic Church, that is, with the benefits of the Sacrament of holy matrimony and not having been divorced or separated.
For Pre-Cana information, contact
Deacon Cajoux at the Rectory.
